Verification of the hearing aid fitting is a critical component in optimizing a patient’s benefit and satisfaction with amplification. Through verification, we can ensure that the earcanal output is appropriate for speech understanding and listening comfort, establish that our goals for audibility and safety are met, and confirm that special hearing aid features are functioning as intended. This course will review best practices in hearing aid verification, including: an overview of validated prescriptive approaches, the basics of probe microphone measures and speech mapping, and the latest in pediatric hearing aid verification, including the use of the real-ear-to-coupler difference (RECD).

This introductory course will cover the basic techniques and procedures related to conducting probe-mic and speech mapping measures for hearing aid fitting.

This presentation will cover basic acoustical and psychoacoustical concepts that underlie audiology including: (a) characteristics of sound and how these characteristics are displayed in the time-domain and frequency-domain, (b) vibration and resonance as they relate to conventional and multi-frequency tympanometry, and (c) signal detection theory as it relates to audiometric testing.

This webinar will review the fundamentals of immittance audiometry for both new and experienced clinicians in order to support best practices.
