Balance/Dizziness/Vestibular Issues CEU Courses

This course will provide an evidence-based overview of pediatric balance disorders, including symptoms, objective and subjective assessments, and other practical considerations for audiology clinical practice. This webinar is presented in partnership with American Auditory Society.

A review of recent key journal articles on bilateral peripheral vestibular system impairment, and their implications for audiology clinical practice.

We have the potential as audiologists to do so many vestibular tests but we are often faced with limited time to perform these tests. Use of Impulse 3.0 can improve efficiency, but many of these tests within the modules are not part of the “standard VNG.” This course focuses on reviewing what each test determines, how it is performed, when to use it, and how to interpret it, in the hopes of teaching modification of work flow to work smarter and not harder.

This course will provide the attendee with the fundamentals of the vestibular evoked myogenic potential (VEMP). It will include: • An overview of the vestibular system • How to collect the cervical VEMP (cVEMP) and ocular VEMP (oVEMP) • Common pitfalls in testing and contraindications • VEMP results and interpretation

The purpose of this 2-hour course is to provide individuals with a review of the anatomy and physiology of the vestibular system. External and internal anatomy, anatomy of the 8th cranial nerve and ascending and descending tracts that carry information from the vestibular apparatus will be discussed.
