Course Abstract

Holidays are approaching and though a very busy time of year for families, opportunities for developing listening and speaking skills in young children abound. Theme based vocabulary, auditory, and pre-literacy activities will be illustrated in application to goals for children with various levels of speaking and listening skills.

Becky Clem completed her undergraduate degree in Speech Pathology and Special Education at Texas Christian University, and Master’s in Communication Disorders at Wichita State University.  Currently, she is the Education Coordinator for Rehabilitation Services, and Project Coordinator for First Sounds-First Words, at Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas and adjunct faculty for Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas.  Becky has served as a training consultant for area school district personnel working with children with hearing loss in spoken language approach.  She mentors professionals seeking certification in Auditory-Verbal Therapy/Education, and presents workshops on pediatric aural rehabilitation.  She is the recipient of the Doreen Pollack AVI Award, and AG Bell Helen Beebe Mentor Award.
