Course Abstract

For individuals with hearing loss, often a single solution such as a digital hearing aid is not all that is required in order to "live well with hearing loss" and enjoy an enriched, fulfilling life. This presentation encourages audiologists to offer their patients holistic solution portfolios and delivery mechanisms in order to advance successful, lifestyle-based end-user outcomes.

Donald Doherty is an Education Specialist at the National Chaplain Center, Veteran’s Administration Medical Center, Hampton, VA. Following more than twenty years in the Marine Corps, Mr. Doherty has held a variety of veteran-related and social service administrative positions, including Social Science Program Specialist, Veteran’s Administration Medical Center, Hampton, VA. Mr. Doherty holds a masters degree in Education and Human Development from George Washington University. Donald Doherty has no financial or non-financial relationships to disclose.

Anne Pope is a past president and member of the board of the Hearing Loss Association of America, and also a former member of the HLAA-NYS board and the current chair of the HLAA-Manhattan Chapter Planning Committee. Ms. Pope frequently addresses consumers, health professionals, and corporations on the impact of hearing loss and the importance of treatment. Ms. Pope holds a master’s degree in business policy from Columbia University Business School’s Executive Program and is a former human resources executive.

Kelly Wacker is an Assistant Professor of Practice / Audiology Clinic Coordinator at the University of Nebraska Lincoln Barkley Memorial Center. Ms. Wacker received her Doctorate of Audiology from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry-School of Audiology. She has been a licensed audiologist for more than ten years and has practical experience in a variety of professional settings that include the Veteran Affairs Medical Clinic and the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE;Bloomington Normal Audiology in Bloomington, IL;Ear, Nose, Throat Medicine and Surgery in Lincoln, NE and her current position at UNL Barkley Memorial Center. none
