Course Abstract

The effects of amplification signal processing for older adults will be discussed in this course. Additionally we will discuss some of the barriers to hearing aid uptake and ways to overcome these barriers.

Lorienne Jenstad, PhD

clinical audiologist

Lorienne Jenstad is a clinical audiologist, on faculty at the University of British Columbia’s  School of Audiology and Speech Science.  She received her Master’s degree in audiology from the University of Western Ontario in 1996, after which she worked for 5 years conducting clinical research on hearing aids.  Subsequently, she went to Seattle Washington for her doctoral studies in Audiology, before moving to Vancouver in 2005.  Her teaching and research interests include hearing and aging, hearing aids and hearing aid processing, and clinical audiology.  She works with clinical audiologists, geriatric physicians, and social workers, and collaborates with colleagues from Ontario, Australia, and the United States.
