Course Abstract

This course is designed to provide school personnel with a basic understanding of the measurements that are obtained when programming a child's cochlear implant. It also provides participants with guideline to help determine when a child should return to the center for reprogramming.

Barb Buck, AuD, CCC-A

Clinical Educator; coordinator of the ABI program

Barbara Buck, Au.D.,  CCC-A has over 16 years of clinical audiology and cochlear implant experience.  Barb worked at a busy neurotology office at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.  She became coordinator of their cochlear implant program as well as supervisor of audiology in 1998.  Barb joined Cochlear in May of 2001.  She provided clinical support as a clinical application specialist until January of 2005 and is currently in the role of Clinical Educator for the Northern region of Cochlear Americas.  She also is coordinator of the ABI program in the U.S.

Amy Popp, AuD, CCC-A, FAAA

Regional Clinical Technical Manager

Amy Popp is a Regional Clinical Technical Manager at Cochlear Americas.  Since joining Cochlear in September 2001 she has also held the positions of principal clinical application specialist and Clinical Educator.  Prior to her employment with Cochlear, Dr. Popp was the Coordinator of the Cochlear Implant Center at Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat/Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City.  During her 10 years at that facility Dr. Popp participated in FDA trials for each of the three implant manufacturers and followed nearly 500 pediatric and adult cochlear implant recipients.  Dr. Popp has contributed to numerous research projects, publications and presentations relating to cochlear implants.  She received her bachelor's degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, her master's degree from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri and her clinical doctorate from Central Michigan University.
