FM Systems can provide an increased signal-to-noise ratio that can result in significant improvements in speech recognition in the classroom. There are several options for students with cochlear implants to receive the benefits of FM systems. Following a review of these arrangements, methods of verification including informal and objective measures will be presented.
Course Objectives
- Participants will be able to describe the possible arrangements for coupling FM systems to Cochlear Implants.
- Participants will be able to discuss how to do informal tests with a child to verify benefit from coupling an FM system to his/her Cochlear Implant.
- Participants will be able to discuss options for objective measures for verification of FM Systems coupled to Cochlear Implants.
