This course will present the cautions that practice managers must exercise when hiring and firing employees. It will present an overview of placing job ads, interviewing new applicants, evaluating employees and the concepts of at will and just cause employment.

Course Objectives
  • As a result of this activity, participants will be able to discuss the importance of specific issues in generating ads and techniques of interviewing for positions in their practice.

  • As a result of this activity, participants will be able to explain the necessity for evaluating employees.

  • As a result of this activity, participants will be able to discuss the need for an employee handbook in their practice.

  • As a result of this activity, participants will be able to distinguish between "at will" and "just cause" employer/employee relationships.

  • As a result of this activity, participants will be able to describe the necessity for a Human Resources Policy in their Practice.
