On the Road Again: The Role of the Itinerant Teacher for Children with Cochlear Implants (HOPE)

Published:  12/5/2006

Children who experience early success with their cochlear implants often find themselves in regular education settings for their school aged years. Other children utilizing implants have no alternative but to receive services through a public school cooperative. Itinerant teachers of children who are deaf are called upon to support all students in the mainstream but the diversity of individual profiles makes it difficult to find a “formula” for service delivery. This online presentation will identify three broad tasks of itinerant teachers and make specific recommendations for each task with regard to best utilizing the limited instructional time of the traveling teacher.
