This talk will discuss the role of parents in the decision-making process when determining mode of communication and educational services when a child has been diagnosed with a significant hearing loss. It will also review the parent-professional partnership with particular respect to the therapy process.

Course Objectives
- Participants will be able to list types of placement options that should be available to children with hearing loss ages 0 – 5.
- Participants will be able to describe several competencies expected from professionals that provide early intervention to young children with hearing loss.
- Participants will be able to list several techniques that can be used to incorporate parents into the therapy session.
