Adult Cochlear Implant Rehabilitation: What and Why (Adults, Professionals)

This workshop will provide information on why adults should pursue rehabilitation after cochlear implantation and the various types of rehabilitation that may be helpful. Topics reviewed will include auditory and speech therapy, music appreciation, interactive software, and other tools that can be pursued as part of a home practice program. Case studies on several adults and their rehab experiences will be shared.

  • Attendees will review benefits of rehabilitation for adult cochlear implant recipients.

  • Attendees will review how to know when an individual might benefit from a rehabilitation program.

  • Attendees will describe various rehab formats and tools, and how and why an individual might pursue them.
