How do I complete a course with AudiologyOnline?

After taking a course, you must achieve a passing score of 80% on a multiple-choice exam. You will receive immediate feedback regarding the results of your exam, and you have a second opportunity to pass the exam if necessary.

To earn credit for a live webinar, you must be logged in throughout the entire event,  and you must complete the exam within 7 days. For a recorded webinar or an audio or text course, you must complete the exam within 30 days of the date you registered for the  course. If you do not complete the exam within those time parameters, you must re-register for the course.

You can access your CE Tests by clicking on ‘Dashboard’ or 'Pending Courses' on the navigation sidebar. After passing the exam, you will be required to complete a course evaluation in order to receive a certificate of completion. Please note that you will not be allowed to complete more than 24 hours of coursework on any calendar day.

Who keeps track of how many CEUs have been earned?

AudiologyOnline maintains a transcript of CE activities completed on AudiologyOnline for our members. After you log in, navigate to your Dashboard, and select "Transcripts." In the upper right corner of the page, you will see an option to print or  save your certificates or transcripts.

To view courses completed prior to the current year, you will need to change the year in the drop-down menu located at the top left corner of the Transcripts page and select “Search.”

You may access this page at any time to view courses that you have completed.  Please review the information below regarding specific CE associations.

Information about reporting:

AAA

All AAA members are AAA CE Registry members. If you would like AudiologyOnline to report your AAA registered coursework to AAA, you must update your user profile to include your mailing address and AAA ID number. You will also need to opt in to AAA reporting immediately prior to completing each course exam.

If you failed to opt in to AAA reporting at the time of course completion, you may change your selection via the link provided in your AudiologyOnline transcript until the course has been reported to AAA.

Reports are submitted monthly on or before the 10th of the month. The Transcripts page indicates the reporting status of each course. Please allow up to two weeks for credit from AudiologyOnline coursework to appear on your official AAA transcript.

ABA Tier 1 Credits

For courses offered for Tier 1 Credits, you may opt in to AAA CE Reporting to report your Tier 1 credits to the AAA CE Registry. The Academy transcript will indicate Tier 1 hours. Non-Academy members may provide AudiologyOnline transcripts or ASHA transcripts to the American Board of Audiology as proof of coursework, or they may participate in the AAA CE Registry as non-members.

Contact the American Academy of Audiology or the American Board of Audiology with further questions.

AG Bell LSLS

AG Bell does not provide an approval number for courses they have approved on AudiologyOnline. You may provide your AudiologyOnline transcript as proof of completion for courses offered for AG Bell LSLS credits.

ASHA

If you are a member of the ASHA Registry and would like AudiologyOnline to report your coursework to that registry, you must indicate this (check “Yes” for ASHA reporting) on the pre-exam page during the CE exam process for each course. You may also opt in for ASHA reporting on your AudiologyOnline Transcripts page, for up to 10 days after the event date for live webinars and for up to 10 days after the course completion date for on-demand courses.

You will also need to have your ASHA account number in your profile on our site. If you have not already entered this number, you can do so in multiple ways: enter it on the pre-exam page when you take a CE test; click on "Account Settings" on the left navigation sidebar to add the number in your Professional Information; or call us toll-free at 800-753-2160 and provide this information over the phone.

If you have opted in to ASHA reporting and provided your ASHA account number, AudiologyOnline will transmit your on-demand course completion information to ASHA immediately after you pass the exam and complete the course evaluation. Course completion information for live webinars will be sent to ASHA on the 11th day after the webinar date. You can check the reporting status of your course on your AudiologyOnline Transcripts page. See below for more details about these reporting status messages.

What do the ASHA reporting status messages on my AudiologyOnline transcript mean?

If you have opted in to ASHA reporting and provided your ASHA account number, AudiologyOnline will transmit your course completion information for on-demand courses to ASHA immediately after you pass the exam and complete the course evaluation. Course completion information for live webinars will be sent to ASHA on the 11th day after the webinar date. Your AudiologyOnline transcript page will then display one of the following status messages:

  1. "Reported to ASHA on (date)" means that the course has been successfully transmitted by AudiologyOnline and received by ASHA. Please allow ASHA up to two weeks to enter the course into your ASHA Registry transcript; if you still do not see it after that time, contact ASHA to inquire.

  2. "Pending Submission to ASHA" means that the course has not yet been successfully transmitted by AudiologyOnline and/or received by ASHA. Please check back for updates to this status. If you still see this status message after 12 days, contact us for more information.

  3. "Submitted to ASHA on (date), Status: INCOMPLETE" This means that member or course information could not be transmitted successfully to ASHA. If your name, email, or ASHA account number could not be matched in the ASHA system, you will see “not verified with ASHA” next to the ASHA number field in your Account Settings. In this case, you will receive an automated email from AudiologyOnline asking you to contact us to resolve the discrepancy. If transmission failed for any other reason, the AudiologyOnline CE Administrator will work to resolve the issue and resubmit your course. Please check back for updates to this status. If you still see this status message after 12 days, contact us for more information.

If you opted out (checked “No” for ASHA reporting) on the pre-exam page, your AudiologyOnline transcript will display a message that says, “Will NOT submit CE Details to ASHA.” After 10 days, you will no longer be able to change your answer and opt in for ASHA reporting.

How do I report my coursework to CE Broker?

AudiologyOnline does not report directly to CE Broker for any state. However, if you request AudiologyOnline to report your courses to ASHA or AAA, those organizations will transmit that course data to CE Broker for the licensing boards of Florida, Ohio, and South Carolina. You will need to be a paid member of the ASHA Registry or the AAA Registry, and you will need to provide them with your license number.

For more information about ASHA reporting to CE Broker, see ASHA's CE Broker FAQ page.

For more information about AAA reporting to CE Broker, see the Academy's Registry Page

Members who do not use the ASHA Registry or the AAA Registry may self-report coursework to CE Broker. For more information about self-reporting, please visit CE Broker. The AudiologyOnline provider number for CE Broker is 50-6085. AudiologyOnline certificates of completion may be uploaded as documentation if required.
