American Cochlear Implant Alliance Announces New Board Members

WHAT:

The American Cochlear Implant Alliance (ACI Alliance), a not-for-profit membership organization created with the purpose of eliminating barriers to cochlear implantation, announced the election of a new Board Chair and two new Board Members. The vote by the membership occurred at the organization’s annual conference, which this year was the 14th International Conference on Cochlear Implants and Other Implantable Technologies May 11-14, 2016 in Toronto. 

WHO:

Elected to the Board of Directors was Colin Driscoll, MD as Chair of the Board and new Board Members Daniel Choo, MD and Meredith Holcomb AuD.

Colin Driscoll MD graduated from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. He then completed a residency in Otolaryngology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester and a Fellowship in Neurotology and Skull Base Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco. He is the Chair of Otorhinolaryngology and the Medical Director of the Mayo Clinic cochlear implant team in Rochester, Minnesota.  Dr. Driscoll’s interests include acoustic neuromas and other tumors of the ear, temporal bone and facial nerve, cochlear implants and other implantable hearing devices, the management of cholesteatoma, and chronic ear disease.

Daniel Choo, MD, obtained his medical degree from the State University of New York Health Science Center at Syracuse, NY and completed his Otolaryngology residency training at the Health Science Center at Syracuse. He completed fellowships in Otology/Neurotology at the Ear Research Foundation in Sarasota (FL) and the Neurotology Branch of the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders, National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD. Dr. Choo is Director of the Division of Pediatric Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.

Meredith Holcomb AuD, CCC-A is the Clinical Director of the Medical University of South Carolina Cochlear Implant Program. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Communication Studies. She received a Doctor of Audiology degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  Dr. Holcomb is active in clinical research on pediatric audiology and cochlear implants.
