I'd have to agree with Staples, this really is the most wonderful time of the year!  I have some exciting news to share, as well as an amazing line-up of fall courses to tell you about.

ASHA Media Award 2014

We are very honored to have been named a recipient of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association's (ASHA) Media Award 2014 for our partnership with ASHA for the Identify the Signs campaign, and on the International Communication Project 2014. These innovative and effective programs have had tremendous reach via local, national and international news outlets to raise awareness of hearing, speech and language issues. Other recipients of this year's award are NBC's Today Show, NPR, and USA Today.

Hearing Aid Month

Dr. Catherine Palmer

Contributing Editor Dr. Gus Mueller has invited a team of experts to present webinars throughout September to help get us up to speed on some key topics in amplification. The webinars will address clinical issues surrounding the utility of different hearing aid features and verification procedures, and include an overview of implantable devices and their place in the clinical picture. We'll wrap up the month with a webinar moderated by Dr. Catherine Palmer, focusing on the real-world benefit of key hearing aid features, presented by representatives from leading hearing aid manufacturers. Browse the month's agenda and register for one or more webinars.

OAEs - Music to My Ears

20Q with Gus Mueller logo

This month's 20Q continues the conversation with Dr. Sumit Dhar about otoacoustic emissions (OAEs) - their origin, applications, and a surprising review of the still many unknowns on this topic. The title refers to Dr. Dhar's passion for OAEs, which he explains are an important part of our assessment tools today, and hold much promise for an even expanded clinical role in the future.

Ear Protection, Tinnitus, Sleep, and Working in the Live Entertainment Industry

Dr. Brian Fligor

This year's webinars in our annual Noise-Induced Hearing Loss webinar series did not disappoint! The interesting array of topics covered included: effective ear protection, getting yourself established to provide tinnitus services, sleep and the role of hearing in sleep disorders, and considerations for audiologists who want to work in live entertainment. Shout out to our NIHL hear-o Dr. Brian Fligor for his passion and enthusiasm in putting these courses together each year. The recordings are now available in our course library.

                                      NCRAR Series

Keep an eye out for more information on our October series of webinars, presented in partnership with the National Center for Rehabilitative Auditory Research (NCRAR). We are thrilled to partner with this esteemed organization, which is comprised of research scientists, clinicians, and scholars from audiology and related disciplines.
