Beltone Expands Capabilities through Release of New Mobile Hearing Apps

Share:

(July 17, 2015) Chicago — Beltone, a leader in hearing aids for the past 75 years, introduced two mobile apps that provide customizable solutions to common hearing challenges. The new mobile offerings consist of an updated Android™ version of the Beltone HearPlus™ app and the Tinnitus Calmer™ app.

“We are excited to continue providing mobile solutions that individualize the hearing experience,” said John Cariola, AuD, Director of Product Management. “Our two latest developments provide simple, discreet ways to manage your hearing aids and tinnitus symptoms through your favorite mobile devices.”

Beltone HearPlus for Android

Initially released in early 2015, the updated Beltone HearPlus app for Android now works with the recently launched Beltone Legend™ hearing aid. People who wear the advanced and versatile Beltone Legend can now take full advantage of Beltone HearPlus compatibility with Android for the Samsung Galaxy® S5. Connectivity to other Android phone models is planned for later in 2015.

The Beltone HearPlus app allows users to:

  • Set preferred volume levels
  • Adjust treble and bass settings as well as other comfort settings
  • Geo-tag frequently visited places – such as home, work, favorite restaurants and more – to automatically update profiles and adjust to specific acoustics
  • Employ the “Finder” function to pinpoint hearing aids if misplaced
  • Check hearing aid battery levels

Tinnitus Calmer

Beltone developed the Tinnitus Calmer app to help users manage tinnitus symptoms, with or without the use of a hearing aid. Tinnitus, commonly referred to as “ringing in the ears,” affects approximately 10-15 percent of the general population, and one quarter of tinnitus cases are severe enough to require medical attention.

Tinnitus Calmer serves as a sound generator, offering a combination of sound therapy and relaxing exercises that distract the brain from focusing on tinnitus symptoms. After downloading the app, users can play sounds from the app library, create their own sound mixes and even add their own music. Tinnitus Calmer is compatible with iPhone®, iPad®, iPod Touch® and Android devices.
