2015 is off to a great start here at AudiologyOnline, and I hope the same is true for you.  Here is an overview of the latest happenings!

Business Essentials for the New Millenium

Academy of Doctors of Audiology logoThis month, we're honored to partner with the Academy of Doctors of Audiology (ADA) to bring you a month-long webinar series on strategically adapting and succeeding with an audiology practice in today's market.  ADA is dedicated to ensuring ownership of the audiology profession through the advancement of autonomous practice models.  Membership in ADA is open to all audiologists, and audiology students as well.  ADA provides access to knowledge tools, resources and relationships to advance best clinical and business practices.  It's a dynamic, innovative and fun organization to be involved with, and offers lots of benefits for audiologists in all practice settings.  Learn more at audiologist.org

Here are some of your comments on this series so far:

  • I have about 7 years to go until I retire and sell my practice. This course provided very useful information that I needed so that I can start planning.
  • This series on unbundling has been very helpful for me to understand the process.  Thank you!
  • It's very difficult to find unbiased, practical business advice in our profession.  Thanks to you and ADA for offering these courses from audiologists who actually walk the walk.

20Q: Forensic Audiology - Putting on Your Investigator's Hat

Tom Thunder
 Tom Thunder

Dr. Gus Mueller invited Tom Thunder, AuD to 20Q with Gus Mueller this month to provide an overview of forensic audiology.  It may not be a familiar term to you, but forensic audiology refers to working within the legal system to provide audiological expertise.  Dr. Thunder gives several examples of fascinating cases he's worked on, and what it takes to prepare and promote yourself to become an expert witness.  Read the article here, and earn 1 hour of continuing education through our CEU Total Access program.

In-Clinic Success

Brian Taylor
 Brian Taylor

Brian Taylor, AuD, is skilled at translating the latest insight and trends from the business world and offering strategies that can be implemented by hearing care professionals.  His latest contribution is a CEU article on building trust with patients to deliver better outcomes and build your practice.  Read it here, and search our library for many other great business courses from Dr. Taylor.

Right Around the Corner

Now that we're in to mid-January (#hardtobelieve!), I thought I'd share a sneak peek of what's in store for February.  We have the first Vanderbilt Audiology Journal Club of 2015 with Dr. Erin Picou, an update on vestibular head impulse testing (vHIT), a webinar on support for children with hearing loss, and a week-long webinar series on wireless technology to improve hearing in noise, presented in partnership with the esteemed journal Seminars in Hearing.  All of these events are now open for registration - hope to see you there.

Brrrr!

Stay warm!  And thanks for reading.

Cheers,
Carolyn
