Oticon Medical Website Engages and Educates with More User-Friendly Features and Resources

Somerset, NJ June 18 - Oticon Medical's newly enhanced website, www.oticonmedical.com, reflects the company's belief that one of the best ways to ensure freedom of choice in bone anchored hearing devices is to create opportunities for patients to make well-informed decisions. The user-friendly improvements focus on increasing the level of engagement of website visitors with practical and readily accessed information and resources, including a clinic locator, that help to ease the patient's journey to a bone anchored hearing solution.

"The Oticon Medical website already offers a wealth of information on the bone anchored treatment process, the newest improvements in bone anchored solutions and the latest news and clinical studies," says Oticon Medical General Manager Jes Olsen. "As awareness of bone anchored hearing solutions increases, we recognize the need to provide easier and more streamlined access to the kind of information people require to make informed decisions. The most recent enhancements to the website include practical resources that enable people to take action when they are ready."

Oticon Medical works closely with leading otolaryngologists, neuro otologists, audiologists and clinics that specialize in surgical procedures and fitting of bone anchored implant systems. A new clinic locator provides website visitors with clinics in their areas that have been trained in and use the Ponto System.

In addition to first-person commentary by Ponto Pro and Ponto Pro Power users, a new one-to-one contact option enables individuals considering a bone anchored hearing solution to connect with experienced Ponto users for more personalized interaction. Interested individuals are matched to users with similar hearing loss, age and geographic location who contact them by email or phone to share experiences and answer questions. "We are very grateful to have a growing network of experienced Ponto Pro and Ponto Pro Power users who generously share their experiences with individuals who are contemplating bone anchored solutions," explains Olsen.

As regulated prescription devices, bone anchored hearing processors can only be dispensed by a medical or hearing health provider. However, healthcare providers often refer their patients directly to manufacturers to purchase upgrade sound processors to their existing bone anchored hearing solutions. The Oticon Medical website enables users to select and purchase Ponto processors and accessories that are then professionally programmed and fit by their hearing care professional.

The website also offers a downloadable patient information packet, available in 13 languages, that contains an Aftercare brochure and other valuable information. A series of "useful links" provides an updated list of relevant social websites and user discussion forums for easy access to alternative sources of information based on patient indication and type of hearing loss.
