Lumosity logoSOMERSET, NJ  October 7 --  Oticon, Inc. is driving home the “brain first” approach of the company’s innovative BrainHearing™ technology to consumers with a unique promotion featuring Lumosity’s popular brain training program.  The Lumosity promotion enables Oticon professional partners to help patients keep their brains challenged and active and at the same time, reinforce the benefits of BrainHearing-equipped Oticon hearing solutions. BrainHearing technology recognizes that speech understanding and comprehension are cognitive processes that happen in the brain.

“Through the Lumosity promotion, we give hearing care professionals a powerful, loyalty-building tool to reinforce hearing health as an important brain-healthy life choice,” says Sheena Oliver, Vice President of Marketing for Oticon, Inc.  “Lumosity’s games are inspired by neuropsychological and cognitive tasks, and are designed to challenge core cognitive abilities. With BrainHearing, we share a similar goal - to keep neural pathways engaged so that the brain doesn’t have to relearn to hear.”

Maintaining brain health is a concept with appeal to a wide range of age groups from young adults to baby boomers and older.  A growing body of research continues to explore the connection between hearing health and cognition. Untreated hearing loss has been shown to have a negative impact on speech understanding and comprehension and other cognitive activities, such as memory and the ability to engage in conversation.

Founded in 2005, Lumosity has created a product that resonates with millions of people from all different walks of life and from all around the world, reaching more than 60 million members.

““The Lumosity promotion is an exciting way to create a point of differentiation for BrainHearing solutions and give hearing care professionals a way to differentiate their practices in a competitive marketplace,”  adds Oliver.  “We aim to create a positive association that helps practitioners educate people to the important link between hearing health, cognition and quality of life.”
