Peer Lauritsen Receives Royal Honor for His Contribution to Oticon Success in North America

Oticon President Peer Lauritsen has been awarded the Diploma of the Danish Export Association and His Royal Highness Prince Henrik's Medal of Honor at a ceremony held at the residence of the General Consul of Denmark in New York. The royal honor recognizes Lauritsen’s leadership in helping Oticon, Inc. to secure a strong market position and continued growth in the North American market for hearing devices.

Peer Lauritsen, President of Oticon, Inc., receives The Export Association Diploma and HRH Prince Henrik’s Honor Medal for his contribution to Oticon’s success in the North American market. Ambassador and Consul General of Denmark Jarl Friis-Madsen presented the award at a ceremony held at the Consul General’s residence in New York. 

 “Peer Lauritsen has been paramount to the development of Oticon in United States and to the success that the parent company has enjoyed. He has delivered outstanding work through many years which is now reflected in the US being one of the biggest and most important markets for Oticon,” said Niels Jacobsen, President and CEO of William Demant Holding A/S, the owner of Oticon.

Work with the executive boards leads to growth

Jacobsen cited Lauritsen’s work with the boards of the Hearing Industry Association and the NGO Better Hearing Institute as a key factors in Oticon’s success in the North American market.

“Peer has been deeply involved in the process of increasing the population’s awareness of the advantages of hearing solutions through board positions in important associations. This approach has been central to the development of Oticon in the US which has grown from fewer than 30 employees to more than 1,000 employees today,” stated Jacobsen.

Hearing aid use continues to grow

The North American market for hearing devices is a mature market and is now the most important market for Oticon. The company expects to continue to increase its market share through higher growth rates.

“Under the leadership of Peer Lauritsen, Oticon has created and executed a long-term strategy for the US market, which has secured the company profitable growth,” said Jarl Friis-Madsen, Ambassador and Consul General of Denmark in New York. Jarl Friis-Madsen further added, “Although every industry is different, there is much to be learned for other companies from Oticon’s performance in the North American market.”
