Psychological post-trauma reactions to audiology office visits are described. Carkhuff’s (2014) helping skills, Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Listen, Empathize, Agree, Partner (L.E.A.P.), which are counseling strategies used to manage obesity, smoking cessation, alcohol use, exercise regimen, drug addiction and medication compliance, are reviewed.
