This course will provide participants with clinical information regarding cochlear implants in children with auditory neuropathy spectrum disorder.

This will be a slide presentation showing otoscopy photos of the ear, to review normal otoscopic ear anatomy, as well as several common and some uncommon pathologies of the ear as identified otoscopically. (NOTE: for the first 10 minutes there is poor sound quality although the presenter is intelligible, and the quality is corrected at the 10 minute mark).

Traditionally, mothers have been the primary contact for professionals providing intervention or habilitative services to families of children with hearing loss. Fathers have been described as the secondary or peripheral parent. This course will present the results of a national survey of over 262 fathers of children with hearing loss that evaluated their perspectives on service delivery and their own roles as fathers of children with hearing loss. Professionals will gain new insights in how to be more inclusive of fathers in the clinical, intervention, or habilitative services that they are providing.

This article describes the development of a new prescriptive fitting algorithm for high frequency hearing losses, OPEN, including a detailed rationale and supporting clinical studies.
