While the presenter was looking at auditory memory in relation to hearing impaired students, the strategies she gave also could apply to children who have been identified as having auditory memory issues in APD. That has been something I have been looking at for a student recently and she gave some great ideas on how improve this skill that can be practiced at home.

showing the examples of how each researcher categorized the sub skills. When i first learned about auditory memory I couldn't figure out why each professional rated things so differently upon hearing this it told me that its pretty much all the same thing it's just semantics;

Excellent examples of strategies to teach specific skills on the auditory skills hierarchy specific to auditory comprehension and memory. Many of my CI clients who struggle language development present with poor auditory memory skills. Her HOPE article was helpful when explaining concerns with parents.

I think that this course would be easier to understand if - instead of reading a text - I'd listened to it while viewing the PowerPoint slides. It's good to have the transcript to look back on, in case I want to review something I just heard, but the slides gave a visual organization that I wasn't able to have while reading the text. The PPT slides provide a "chunking" and "highlighting" aspect that were helpful to me.

Ashley did an excellent job correlating current research and practical intervention strategies -- I also greatly appreciated her review of 'cycling' through the auditory memory intervention strategies throughout a student's development -- too often intervention focuses only on early developing vocabulary/language and the foundational needs of auditory memory/comprehension are neglected even when students are struggling in the academic setting due to these weaknesses.
