This course reviews the foundations of HIPAA privacy, security, breach notification, and marketing requirements and guidelines as they relate to hearing healthcare. HIPAA requirements and considerations for telehealth are also covered. This introductory course is intended for new hire trainings as well as for annual review.

A study describing acoustic measurements of the new split processing implemented in Signia AX hearing aids, and a comparison of those measures to the effect of other common processing algorithms, including digital noise reduction and adaptive directionality.

A discussion of perceived hearing difficulty in adults, including correlation with pure-tone audiometry, relationship to auditory wellness, and effect on candidacy for intervention.

This course is intended for audiology clinical externship coordinators, current externship supervisors, and those considering becoming a supervisor. The intent is to share strategies that make placements successful as well as ways to work through challenges from both a coordinator and supervisor perspective.
