The position for an audiologist to provide on site services within the facilities of the Illinois Department of Correction under our current contract is now open.
The position requires travel (including 50% overnight) to the correctional facilities on a regular basis to conduct baseline testing and screening services, diagnostic analysis and recommendations and the fitting of hearing aids. Travel expenses are covered. This role has a lot of autonomy.
Daily reporting of inmate / patients seen, services performed and medical records keeping are required. This includes transmission of documents and outcomes to the facilities and to our administrative staff. Guards will be provided in the room with you and the patients.
Weekly reporting of expenses and travel reimbursement requests along with inventory and supply requests are required.
Monthly scheduling of future facility visits and confirmation of those visits the week prior to schedule is required.
There is no sales component to this position.
SPECIFIC ILLINOIS REQUIREMENTS.
- Willingness to travel extensively in the Northern half of Illinois on a regular basis. Visit schedule is approximately 4 facilities per week and averages 20 visits per month. Heavy overnight travel is required.
- Candidate should live in the Northern half of Illinois, have reliable transportation and be adept at geographically scheduling travel to and from the facilities.
- Candidate MUST have an active and clear AUDIOLOGIST LICENSE in the state of Illinois.
- Candidate must be able to pass an extensive background check and drug screening as required by the state of Illinois.
- Candidate should have a comfort level working with inmates under guard in a correctional environment.
- Successful candidates performing these duties historically possess these traits; highly developed communication skills, computer and mobile audiology equipment knowledge, are quick thinking and time efficient in testing and dispensing, work well under pressure and stay calm in stressful situations and don’t require micro-management while in the field.
