Question
How do I change PTA calculations on GSI audiometers?
Answer
Understanding how to use Weighted Pure Tone Average (WPTA) on the GSI AudioStar Pro™ and the latest version of the GSI Pello™ will allow you to maximize your pure tone audiometry testing. The GSI AudioStar Pro and the latest version of the GSI Pello offers a range of customizable options, allowing you to fine-tune your assessments to better reflect your patients' hearing abilities.
To change the weighting for the PTA on either GSI audiometer, open the configuration application and press the “Upload” button to pull the current configuration settings from the device into the software tool. Navigate to the “General” tab under “Audiometry” to access PTA options.
Select the frequencies to be used for PTA/AC and PTA/BC calculations. The number above
each frequency is a multiplier for that frequency in the calculation of the PTA.
Once you have your changes made, simply press “Download” to save the new settings to the Audiometer. Press “Data Erase” and then “Clear Session”, or restart the audiometer, for the new configuration settings to take effect.
