Question

Is there an electronic stethoscope you can recommend for a canal aid user other than one that utilizes a headset? Headsets seem to alienate other staff and patients as well. Are there any other choices of stethoscopes to use with my hearing aids in place?

Answer

I know of two options: one is to try an amplified stethoscope that would be worn without your hearing aid. The second option would be to use something called a Stethomade Tip which attaches to a stethoscope and allows you to use your hearing aid. Both are available in many places but Oaktree Products is a nice spot to purchase them. Their # is 1-800-347-1960.

In the future you might want to consider replacing your canal aid with an completely in the ear hearing aid or a CIC. They are by far the easiest aid to wear with a traditional stethoscope.
