Question

Which hearing aids cannot be covered by ESCO's extended coverage plans?

Answer

There are very few hearing instruments ESCO cannot cover! In fact, private label hearing instruments can be covered as can many of the external components of cochlear implant systems. We can also cover FM systems, DAI boots and other hearing-related components.

As a general rule, instruments older than 7 years will not be considered for extended coverage. Hearing aid models discontinued for more than 12 months will not be considered unless there is a comparable product that can be substituted in the event of a claim. If a patient has extended coverage on an aid that becomes discontinued for over 12 months, the contract will be honored. If no comparable replacement is found, they will not have a renewal option at the end of their coverage term.

ESCO does not have the ability to cover Miracle Ear and Beltone products, as these are franchise owned products.

This course will review some of the issues and options at play when having the patient weigh in on the value of the new devices.
