Meet Your Patients' New "Pocket Audiologist": An Interview with Danielle Hayden on Unitron’s Coach

AudiologyOnline: What is Coach?

Danielle Hayden: Coach is part of Unitron’s Experience Tech Tools, which is designed to extend care beyond the clinic by delivering notifications directly to your patients through the Remote Plus app. It provides useful tips, advice, and reminders at a time that makes sense to put that knowledge to use.

AudiologyOnline: Why should audiologists choose Coach?

Danielle Hayden: Patients are often expected to learn over 110 unique tasks when adapting their hearing aids, yet retention of this information after they leave the office can be limited. Coach acts as a “pocket audiologist,” supporting patients at home by reinforcing key skills introduced during their initial appointment. At the appropriate time, such as when essential tasks like charging, insertion, or cleaning is needed, the Coach feature delivers relevant instructions to help the patient build confidence in their hearing aid use.

AudiologyOnline: What are the benefits to patients?

Danielle Hayden: Patients often leave the office feeling overwhelmed, trying to remember everything they’ve just learned about their hearing aids.  With Coach, the support doesn’t stop when they leave the office. It gives patients access to the guidance you’ve already provided when they need it the most. By reinforcing key information at home, Coach helps your patients build confidence and deepen their understanding of their devices. They spend less time worrying about care and maintenance, and more time focusing on what really matters: hearing better!
