AFA Awards First Practitioner Scholarship

Share:

Lafayette, IN -Ann Marie Weingart, MS, of Burlington, IA is the first recipient of the AFA's Audiology Professional Organization Practitioner Scholarship. The scholarship was developed to expand the AFA's support of practitioners pursuing the AuD through distance learning programs, and to honor professional organizations that co-sponsored the AFA's AuD Standards and Equivalency Conference. These organizations, one of which was the American Academy of Audiology, helped to establish standards for AuD programs and access to these programs for practicing audiologists.

Nominated by AAA, Ms. Weingart began her AuD coursework at Arizona School of Health Sciences in March 2003. She has practiced audiology at Great River Medical Center in West Burl, IA since 1990. AAA selected Ms. Weingart because she has demonstrated high standards of patient care and professional behavior and has shown qualities of leadership and innovation in the profession. AFA Chair Ken Lowder presented her with a certificate of scholarship at AAA's Academy Awards Ceremony.

Horace Beasley, MAud, of Fayetteville, North Carolina was nominated for the Audiology Professional Organization Practitioner Scholarship by the Audiological Resource Association. He will receive the scholarship upon entering an AuD distance learning program and be presented with a certificate of scholarship at ARA's annual meeting.
