Reston, VA – The American Academy of Audiology (AAA) has released the first two episodes of its new podcast, Sound Practice, designed for audiologists who want to connect evidence-based research with real-world clinical practice. Sound Practice is sponsored by the American Academy of Audiology Foundation, co-hosted by Maggie Kettler, AuD, Sarah McAlexander, AuD, and Emily Jo Venskytis, AuD, and produced by AAA Senior Communications and Publication Manager Will Byrnes.
Designed for professionals throughout their careers, Sound Practice episodes explore how emerging research, strategic initiatives, and innovative ideas translate into meaningful impact for patient care and the profession. Each episode features conversations with thought leaders who unpack the clinical implications of cutting-edge studies, policy developments, and practice trends. By focusing on what the evidence means in practice, Sound Practice empowers listeners to apply insights and enhance care delivery.
"Throughout our time recording the podcast, I've loved having the opportunity to pick the brains of Academy leaders and audiology researchers - we have an exciting line-up of guests planned, and I can't wait to hear more about the important work they are doing to move our profession forward and how we can bring that work back into our everyday clinical practice." Sarah McAlexander, AuD
“As one of the hosts of the Sound Practice Podcast, I’m energized by the opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations with leading experts in audiology. Audiologists are incredibly busy, and we hope this podcast becomes a convenient, on-demand resource that supports clinicians and ultimately elevates the care we provide to our patients.” Maggie Kettler, AuD
“I am thrilled to co-host Sound Practice. As both a practicing clinician and an educator, I’ve found that our guests have left me feeling energized and full of new ideas for patient care. It’s a fun, accessible way to stay current on the latest evidence and guidelines. I’m excited to keep learning alongside our audience as the series continues.” Emily Jo Venskytis, AuD
The next episode of Sound Practice will be recorded live at the AAA2026 Convention in San Antonio, Texas. Registration is still open for AAA2026 (www.audiology.org/aaa-annual-convention/).
