(Reston, VA - April 25, 2007) The American Academy of Audiology is pleased to announce that National Public Radio (NPR) will broadcast a segment on noise-induced hearing loss in young people on Morning Edition tomorrow, Thursday, April 26. This program will feature Turn it to the Left, the Academy's rap single written by Ben Jackson to raise awareness about noise-induced hearing loss. The on-air segment will feature his performance during a program led by Academy member, Sharon Kujawa, Ph.D., in a Boston middle-school classroom. Additionally, the program includes advice from Academy member, William Clark, Ph.D.
An original version of this rap single will be available next week, complimentary with each $20 gift to the American Academy of Audiology Foundation (www.audiologyfoundation.org). These donations will fund research on noise-induced hearing loss.
Ben's live performance of this rap at AudiologyNOW! 2007 in Denver last week received a standing ovation and much praise for its clever message aimed at young music lovers. The rap's "hook" urges all to take the volume control and Turn it to the Left.
