Cochlear Implants 2002: Facts About Cochlear Implants From the American Speech Language Hearing Association.

Share:

"A new fact sheet on cochlear implants is now available through the consumer web site of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) at www.asha.org/press/cochlear_facts.cfm. In addition to information about what an implant is, how long implants have been available, and who is eligible for the procedure, the fact sheet also discusses what results can reasonably be expected from an implant, the implantation process, the role of audiologists and speech-language pathologists on the implant team, and the cost and insurance coverage of implants.

ASHA is the national professional, scientific, and credentialing association for more than 103,000 audiologists, speech-language pathologists, and speech, language, and hearing scientists. Audiologists specialize in preventing and assessing hearing disorders as well as providing audiologic treatment including hearing aids. Speech-language pathologists identify, assess, and treat speech and language problems including swallowing disorders."
