GN Otometrics Acquires License for ASSR From Vivosonic

SCHAUMBURG, Ill., September 13, 2002 - - GN Otometrics, through its ICS Medical division, announced today that it has executed an agreement with Vivosonic Incorporated of Toronto, Ontario, that will give GN Otometrics exclusive rights to use Vivosonic's patented technology for Auditory Steady State Response (ASSR) testing.

"The Vivosonic technology represents the perfect complement to the evoked potential technology in our CHARTR EP®," said Del Bloem, president of ICS Medical. "It promises to be more accurate and to operate significantly faster than currently available ASSR systems."

Among the benefits the company claims is an extension of GN Otometric's strong commitment to infant hearing testing. This commitment extends from screening with the Madsen AccuScreen, through diagnostic testing using the Capella OAE Cochlear Analyzer and CHARTR EP with PediABR, to frequency-specific testing to be done with the new ASSR capability. This integrated approach to infant hearing testing holds the potential for earlier habilitation and the hope for improved outcomes for hearing challenged infants.

ICS Medical is a division of GN Otometrics, the world's leader in hearing and balance diagnostic systems.
