Eden Prairie, MN - August 7 - This summer, Starkey proudly welcomed over 200 Au.D. students and faculty from across the U.S. to its headquarters in Eden Prairie, MN, for the 2025 Starkey University Workshop - an engaging, hands-on experience designed to elevate the next generation of audiologists.
From the moment students arrived, they were immersed in Starkey’s mission of innovation and excellence. The workshop featured a series of interactive breakout sessions, including a fan-favorite: Modifications Lab, where students practiced real-world techniques using tools found in the clinic. Participants also explored product fittings using Starkey’s Pro Fit software, engaged in realistic patient scenarios, and collaborated with Starkey team members in an environment that encouraged curiosity and skill-building.
A standout new session, "Discovering Patient Needs: Conversations that Matter," focused on communication strategies that elevate patient care through empathy, active listening, and individualized support.
Beyond technical training, the workshop emphasized advocacy and professional growth. Bridget Dobyan delivered an energizing lecture on audiology advocacy, encouraging students to find and use their voice within the profession. Dr. Shanna Dewsnup shared a powerful personal story, highlighting the importance of finding your “why” and of the human impact behind each patient's interaction. The Audiology Avenue’s panel featured professionals from diverse backgrounds: private practice, hearing protection, forensic audiology, tinnitus, and research, offering valuable insight into career paths, entrepreneurship, and balancing clinical excellence with professional growth.
Additional highlights included student research presentations, a behind-the-scenes technology & production tour, and spirited activities like an ’80s party and campus-wide scavenger hunt, fostering connection and camaraderie among attendees.
The Starkey University Workshop continues to be a cornerstone of Starkey’s commitment to education, providing future audiologists with knowledge, guidance, and a clearer path forward in a rapidly evolving profession.
