Knowles Introduces the WaxBuster® - Solution for Receiver Wax Build Up

Share:

Itasca, IL February 9, 1998 -- Knowles Electronics, Inc. is pleased to introduce an effective remedy for the hearing aid industry's oldest problem, receiver wax build-up. The solution is the WaxBuster7®.

The WaxBuster (WB) is not just another wax filter, it is a mechanical solution that actually expels cerumen from the hearing aid sound tube. When the spring loaded collar is pressed against a hard surface, it retracts inward and the built-in piston forces wax out of the hearing aid. Proper use of the WaxBuster will reduce the frequency of hearing instrument repairs and the expenses incurred by manufacturers.

The WaxBuster improves reliability while remaining virtually transparent to hearing instrument performance. The construction provides a moderate increase in high frequency gain, which makes some speech cues more audible without increasing the risk of feedback. After an 8 month field test, WaxBuster had minimal wax accumulation, and frequency response of the hearing instrument did not vary more than 2dB from specification.

The WaxBuster's small size allows it to be mounted in up to 95% of all ITE and ITC hearing instruments. In spite of its miniature size, even those individuals with dexterity limitations will find that operating the WaxBuster is as simple as using a ballpoint pen.

Samples and detailed sales literature on the WaxBuster can be requested through your Knowles sales representative.
