Oticon Sets a New Standard in Pediatric Hearing Care with Oticon Play SIâ„¢

This hearing aid family, featuring second-generation AI technology, is designed to ensure that every moment sparkles for children with hearing loss.

Today, Oticon Inc. introduces Oticon Play SI, the only pediatric hearing aid family with second-generation AI-powered sound processing, 4D user intent sensors1, and next-generation connectivity. These innovations set a new benchmark in pediatric hearing care, helping children with hearing loss participate meaningfully in the world around them. For children with hearing loss, hearing aid technology needs to seamlessly support their development and engagement, even in complex environments such as noisy classrooms and playgrounds. They need a robust and personalized hearing aid that’s built to last, has long battery life, and reliable Bluetooth® connectivity that helps them connect with their digital world.

Oticon Play SI

Built on Oticon’s most advanced sound processing technology

Play SI includes Oticon’s second-generation AI sound processing trained with millions of sound scenes to help children access clearer, more natural sound in every moment. With more advanced noise suppression of up to 12 dB, Oticon Play SI also delivers a more extensive range of sounds with an extended frequency bandwidth from 80 Hz up to 10,000 Hz.

Helping children engage with 4D user-intent sensors

Building on insights from human communication behavior, Oticon Play SI combines 4D user-intent sensors to understand and act on the child’s listening needs in real time. These sensors allow the hearing aid to recognize when a child’s listening needs change and adapt accordingly.1 Recent evidence from Boys Town National Research Hospital shows that by activating 4D Sensors for children and teens with hearing loss (aged 12-18), sentence recognition for 50% of participants was improved, and listening difficulty for 77% of participants was reduced.2

“Oticon Play SI doesn’t just improve access to sound; it supports critical developmental milestones. For children, hearing is the foundation for language, learning, and social interaction. When they can hear clearly in complex environments, they’re better able to build vocabulary, follow classroom discussions, and engage confidently with peers. For teens and young adults, streaming is equally important. It allows them to stay connected socially, enjoy music, and access educational content without barriers. Oticon Play SI helps ensure children and teens can thrive in every aspect of life,” says David Gordey, Director of Pediatric Audiology and Research at Oticon.

A perfect fit for all ears

Oticon Play SI is available in a discreet miniRITE R which is ideal for tweens and teens, and a versatile miniBTE R which offers fitting level 85 and 105 and is perfect for the smallest ears. There are 12 color options to choose from, and the miniBTE R also offers seven hook colors. In addition, fun stickers let children express their unique and sparkling personality.

Built to last

Oticon Play SI is made to meet children’s need for a robust hearing aid with its IP68-rating for water and dust protection and it is made with allergen-free materials.

Next-generation connectivity for all

In today’s world, streaming is an essential part of how children develop, engage, and express themselves. Next-generation connectivity in Oticon Play SI helps children experience exceptional streaming, including access to Auracast™ broadcasts via the Oticon Companion app. Oticon Play SI is a Made for iPhone hearing aid, and it’s also optimized for Android™ with the latest Bluetooth® LE Audio technology which enables two-way audio streaming for hands-free calls as well as Fast Pair on select Android devices.3 In a recent study, 83% of tweens and teens prefer our Bluetooth LE Audio connectivity over Bluetooth classic.4

A perfect match with EduMic

EduMic is Oticon’s digitally modulated remote microphone solution that works perfectly with Oticon Play SI and serves as a remote microphone for preschool and classroom teachers in learning environments. It helps give access to their teacher’s voice, even when distance and noise is present. EduMic also includes wind noise management for clearer sound in outdoor spaces.

Faster charging

With Oticon Play SI, children can get a full day out of their hearing aids after only one hour of charging; up to four hours of sparkling moments in just a 15-minute charge; or eight hours of power in just a 30-minute charge.5
