Paul R. Rao, PhD, CCC-SLP, Immediate Past President of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association, testified March 29 before a House appropriations panel, urging Congress to provide maximum funding for the Individuals With Disabilities Education Improvement Act ;direct states and school districts that receive federal funds to allow the use of school-based speech-language pathologists and audiologists on their school literacy teams and state advisory boards;and ensure Early Hearing Detection and Intervention program funding that enables states to link screening programs with diagnosis and early intervention programs.
