Phonak takes its latest FM technology to school.

Stäfa, October 2003 - The latest innovation from Phonak succeeds in closing the gap between children with and without hearing loss in the school situation. This multi-frequency technology enables children with hearing instruments to move freely between classrooms, without the need for frequency re-setting. For wearers and teachers the new FM technology means ultimate flexibility, ensuring that children and not technical issues are the focus of the education process.

Digital frequency synthesizer inside
The key breakthrough behind the new multi-frequency FM technology is the digital frequency synthesizer, unique to Phonak. It has been integrated into several new products - the Campus S transmitter, specially designed for use in learning environments, the MicroLink MLxS, the Perseo and Claro dAZ FM S and the Microlink CI S receiver for cochlear implant users. The digital synthesizer simplifies frequency management in schools so that it really is child's play.

Tailor-made synchronization
Phonak offers fast and flexible methods for both the synchronization of a class or group, and the synchronization of a specific child. Automatic Frequency Synchronization (AFS) for a class or group can be carried out via the new WallPilot, a picture-frame like device hung by entrance to room. This automatically sets the MicroLink of each child entering to the correct frequency for that particular room. For the synchronization of an individual child Direct Frequency Synchronization (DFS) with Campus S offers the perfect solution. Once the frequency is selected, a touch of the DFS button on the Campus S instantly sets the receiver frequency accordingly.

Small is beautiful
Three decades of pediatric experience have qualified Phonak to design products for children that are highly effective, practical, discrete and robust. The Microlink receivers are the smallest in the world and simply attached to the hearing instrument. They are totally free of wires that could restrict the child's movement. Campus S also has a specially designed lockable keypad to resist inquisitive fingers. The Phonak FM system, with over 100,000 users worldwide, is established as an international standard.
