Registration Open/Keynotes Lectures for CI2024 International Cochlear Implant Conference in Vancouver, British Columbia Announced

January 19, 2024 Washington, D.C.: Registration is open for the American Cochlear Implant Alliance (ACI Alliance) clinical research conference CI2024 Vancouver: 17th International Conference on Cochlear Implants and Other Implantable Technologies to be held July 10-13, 2024, in Vancouver, British Columbia.

The conference theme, Cochlear Implantation: Facilitating the Patient Journey, will foster dissemination of multi-disciplinary scientific information applicable to audiologists, physicians, speech pathologists, psychologists, scientists, engineers, educators, students, advocates, and others involved in cochlear implantation. Attendees can expect a diverse exhibit hall with opportunities to interact with a variety of industry and related providers, government, and non-profit institutions.

Ruth Litovsky PhD will deliver the John Niparko Memorial Lecture on “Successful Pathways to Outcomes in Bilateral Cochlear Implantation.” She has a joint appointment in the Division of Otolaryngology in the Department of Surgery and serves as the Academic Associate Dean for the Division of Natural, Physical & Mathematical Sciences in the College of Letters & Science.

Jill B. Firszt, PhD, Professor, Department of Otolaryngology at the Washington University School of Medicine, will deliver a keynote on “Cochlear Implantation of Individuals with Asymmetric Hearing Loss and Single Sided Deafness: Results, Expectations and Gaps in Knowledge.” Her research interests include bilateral and unilateral cochlear implants in adults and children, asymmetric hearing and unilateral haring loss, and speech recognition.

Andrej Kral MD, PhD, and Chair of Auditory Neurophysiology at Medical University Hannover, will keynote on “Maturation of the Auditory System Requires Auditory Experience Within an Early Critical Period.” Dr. Kral’s lecture will discuss the deficits that the auditory system demonstrates in the absence of hearing and that cochlear implants allow appropriate maturation of the cortex.

 

Registration discounts are offered for ACI Alliance members and early bird rates are available through April 19, 2024. The full conference program will be available in March and continuing education credits (CME and CEU) will be offered.
