Siemens makes a lasting impact on the Dallas community during AudiologyNOW! 2009

Siemens took advantage of the annual AudiologyNOW! conference in Dallas, Texas, from April 1 through April 4, 2009, to continue the company's commitment to community betterment through Siemens Science Day and a fundraising event for the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Siemens executives and sales representatives visited Lakewood Elementary School in East Dallas on the morning of April 1, on a mission to promote math and science literacy in the classroom. The 5th grade students at Lakewood Elementary participated in a fun "egg drop" engineering project that required teamwork and ingenuity. Developed for students in the 4th, 5th, and 6th grades, Siemens Science Day challenges students to connect science, math, and technology to their everyday lives. Now in its fourth year, the Siemens Science Day program has reached more than 1,100 students.

"Siemens believes strongly in supporting today's students in the areas of math and science education," said Christi Pedra, CEO of Siemens Hearing. "The students at Lakewood Elementary impressed our entire team with their enthusiasm and creative ideas. We were pleased with the success of this Science Day event and the students were thrilled with the opportunity to display their projects on the local news."

The following night, Siemens held a VIP customer event on the evening of April 2, as a fundraiser for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Hosted at Eddie Deen's Ranch, Siemens made a donation on behalf of every attendee to help support the continued fight against breast cancer.

"During AudiologyNOW!, we always host a special dinner for customers. This year we wanted the event to take on another dimension," said Pedra. "Our customers enjoyed the Texas barbeque, danced to country music and were proud to be associated with Siemens as we support The Susan G. Komen Foundation."
