Unique Remote Care Program and HearCare App Expand Access to Cochlear Implant Support

(February 3, 2026) – DURHAM, NC – MED-EL USA is advancing virtual healthcare with Remote Care, a smart telehealth platform for audiologists, and the companion HearCare App for MED-EL cochlear implant recipients.* Together, they make it easier than ever for hearing professionals and patients to connect, share data, and manage care outside the clinic.

With Remote Care, audiologists can streamline their operations by requesting and reviewing system checks, modifying audio processor configurations, and virtually sharing the updated configurations using MAESTRO 11 software. Updated configurations are sent directly to patients via the HearCare App, providing the same precision as an in-person fitting.

MED-EL’s Remote Care is the only telehealth cochlear implant program that gives audiologists flexibility with both synchronous and asynchronous telehealth options. Synchronous sessions allow scheduled video calls with real-time data sharing, patient feedback, and billable insurance codes. Asynchronous sessions allow clinicians to review data and send updated configurations at their convenience, giving patients maximum flexibility to download settings anytime, anywhere.

This approach allows audiologists to reserve in-clinic visits for patients who need them most, while still delivering virtual support to those performing well. Patients who receive replacement audio processors can also restore their settings instantly through the HearCare App’s backup feature. Importantly, MED-EL’s commitment to compatibility ensures that even recipients with legacy implants can benefit from these advances.

For patients and caregivers, the HearCare App puts hearing health in their hands. With a compatible smartphone and audio processor, they can run system checks, manage backups, and stay connected to their audiologist.

“Remote Care and the HearCare App make it possible for audiologists to support patients with the same precision and confidence as an in-clinic visit, without the need for travel,” said Kensi Saia, AuD, PhD, Product Manager, MED-EL USA. “This flexibility is especially valuable for patients who live far from a clinic or have limited mobility, while also giving professionals more time to focus on those who truly need in-person care. It’s a win-win for efficiency and patient outcomes.”

The Remote Care platform and HearCare App are available at no charge. Audiologists can enroll here or contact their local MED-EL representative for details.

*Remote Care and the HearCare MED-EL App are compatible with PULSARCI100, SONATA, MED-EL CONCERT, SYNCHRONY, and SYNCHRONY 2 implants used in combination with a SONNET 3, SONNET 3 EAS, SONNET 2, SONNET 2 EAS, or RONDO 3 audio processor.
