Question
What CPT code should you use when a diagnostic OAE evaluation could not be performed due to high internal noise and/or infant was very active?
Answer
There are two options depending on how far into the evaluation you got before terminating. If you got part way through the procedure and had to terminate, then you could code 92588-52. The ''-52'' means abbreviated procedure. If the procedure never really got started because the child was too active and unfit for test, then it would not be appropriate to bill any code because the procedure did not take place.
