Question

What makes Ponto 4 truly wireless?

Answer

Ponto 4 is the world’s first bone-anchored hearing solution that can be connected to the internet. Using the IFTTT (If This Then That) network and Oticon ON App, it can connect and interact with numerous services and devices. As technology improves, Ponto 4 can easily be updated.

Oticon ON App

The Ponto 4 is made for iPhone strait out of the box. The patient can connect to the iPhone for direct streaming of phone calls, music, changing programs and volume. Another neat feature is that patients can use the iPhone as an external microphone. Any other Bluetooth device (i.e., Android) would need the ConnectClip. Via the ConnectClip, you can access any other device with Bluetooth to access user controls, volume control, and program changes. The Oticon ON App works on both Android and iPhone.

Ponto 4 is the only bone-anchored sound processor that connects onto the IFTTT protocol, which is a cloud-based system that allows different technologies from different manufacturers to talk to each other. IFTTT enables connection and control to an endless range of devices. Things have changed quite a lot on that front, it used to be a web-based protocol where you had to go onto an Internet site. It wasn't very intuitive, but now it's a very easy app.
