Question

Led by innovations in technology, the landscape of hearing healthcare is changing. What is GN Hearing doing to support users and hearing healthcare professionals in this evolving industry?

Answer

New technologies have only recently begun to transform the hearing aid industry for dispensers and users in fundamental ways. As consumers’ expectations evolve, we are constantly looking for ways to support our dispensers so that they can provide the best possible outcomes for users anywhere along their hearing journey.

At GN Hearing, our vision is founded in years of expertise in sound quality and audiology so that first and foremost we deliver the most advanced hearing aids available. In 2012, we opened up the world around our users with the invention of Binaural Directionality™, eliminating tunnel focus and allowing users to enjoy clear speech understanding in noise, while preserving awareness of other sounds around them. We also invented Spatial Sense™ to give users a sense of where sounds are coming from. Together, these technologies support the brain’s natural ability to process sounds for an effortless hearing experience.

In 2014, we charted new territory for our industry and hearing aid users, collaborating with Apple to introduce the world’s first Made for iPhone® hearing aid, ReSound LiNX™, the first connected hearing aid with direct streaming capabilities from a smartphone. For the first time, we empowered people to personalize their hearing aids discreetly and directly from a smartphone through the simple, intuitive ReSound Smart™ app, introducing a modern, Smart Hearing experience for people worldwide.

With this app, we gave users a convenient, easy-to-use tool that enabled them to customize hearing aid settings on the go. This opened the door to a new level of relationship between hearing care professionals and users by creating a collaborative way for people to become more involved in their hearing experience without losing the support and guidance that is necessary for proper care.

In 2015, we introduced ReSound’s 4th generation Smart Hearing aid, ReSound LiNX2™ and ReSound ENZO2™, the only full family of advanced hearing aids with Made for iPhone capabilities that meet nearly every hearing loss need and provide users with exceptional sound quality.

ReSound Smart Hearing solutions have been globally recognized for their impact on the hearing industry, and we are thrilled to see positive feedback from our users – who we design for, and for whom we exist. But we will not stop here. We are constantly looking to improve the experience for hearing professionals and users in a way that encourages the ongoing growth of this relationship.

While we’ve made strides to bring the most effortless, natural hearing to users, more can be done to ensure they are getting the full benefit of their hearing aids in their everyday lives. For hearing care professionals, we see an opportunity for a smarter way of fitting – one that maximizes efficiency around the hearing aid fitting process so that more time can be dedicated to counseling users along their hearing journey.

Today’s fitting process allows hearing professionals to see users and provide them with the right settings to meet their individual needs, but it is a one-way process – without input from everyday surroundings, it is often difficult to know how well the hearing aids will perform until the user returns to a real world scenario.

We can continue to achieve the best outcomes as long as we remain committed to developing technologies that put superior sound quality into meaningful solutions. If the future of hearing healthcare is anything like the last few years, GN Hearing stands poised to once again innovate the industry’s next big breakthrough – a new Smarter Fitting solution, introduced as part of ReSound’s 5th generation 2.4 GHz Smart Hearing portfolio, that will provide an even more personalized, user-friendly, and collaborative hearing care solution.

Smarter Fitting will eliminate obstacles of time and distance, improving outcomes and user satisfaction by deepening the relationship between the hearing care professional and the user, all in support of our commitment to making life sound better.
