Symphonix Devices, Inc. Appoints Dennis S. Roy Vice President of Marketing

SAN JOSE, Calif. /PRNewswire/ -- Dennis S. Roy has been appointed vice president of marketing for Symphonix#174; Devices, Inc. (Nasdaq: SMPX), announced Kirk Davis, president and chief executive officer of the company.

'Dennis brings to Symphonix an impressive mix of experience -- combining hearing industry knowledge with extensive marketing expertise,' said Davis. 'Dennis will be an invaluable asset to the management committee because he has a proven track record of developing and implementing impactful marketing programs that propel brands to category leadership and help build markets.'

Prior to joining Symphonix, Mr. Roy served as vice president, business unit leader at GE Financial Assurance-Partnership Marketing Group, a subsidiary of GE Capital. Mr. Roy directed the healthcare and professional services product areas, setting the strategic direction and implementing new marketing programs for two business units, which counted for 20 percent of the company's revenues.

Before GE Financial Assurance, Mr. Roy served in various marketing and strategy positions at Beltone Electronics Corporation, a worldwide leader in manufacturing and marketing hearing healthcare products. His most recent post at the company was vice president of North American Marketing, where he managed the corporate-wide marketing plan and had responsibility for Beltone of Canada, the audiometer and hearing aid battery product lines, the managed care contracting sales force, corporate research and regulatory affairs.

Mr. Roy also has extensive experience marketing consumer products with the Quaker Oats Company. While at Quaker, Mr. Roy held various positions, including vice president of client services. In this role, he created new product concepts and managed award-winning marketing programs for brands such as Gatorade Thirst Quencher, Instant Quaker Oatmeal and Quaker Oats cereal.

Mr. Roy earned a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan.
