Question

How can audiologists transition to an EMR (electronic medical record) ready practice?

Answer

Lance Brown: OTObase, the patient management module by Otometrics, gives audiologists and hearing care professionals a fast and simple way to connect to EMR (Electronic Medical Records). Three options are now available to fit your needs: OTObase® Lite, OTObase® Workstation, and OTObase® EMR/HL7. You can read about OTObase on our website or our interview with AudiologyOnline.

Angela Flores, AuD: Integration is key when choosing an EMR solution for your practice. OTObase utilizes the Noah 4 engine – making it a simple and user-friendly database module for management of audiological data and patient information.  Since OTObase’s interface is very similar to Noah, it takes only minutes to learn the software.  It will integrate with all types of audiology equipment such as audiometers, tympanometers, video otoscopes, diagnostic OAEs and with all major brands.  Finally, test information from each piece of equipment would be available to be integrated into one EMR report.

Don Kim, AuD: By streamlining work processes, clinicians can free up resources for more face-time with patients and improve the quality of patient care. OTObase is compatible with practically all mid-to-large size EMR/EHR systems like Epic, AllScripts™ or AllMeds. It supports HL7, GDT and Noah 4 interfaces. It connects the audiology department to EMR quickly while boosting efficiency throughout your audiology department.

Angela: And now with the OTOsuite® REPORTS feature in the latest version of OTObase, users will be able to import reports from equipment outside of the Noah network, including any PC-based product. The Report Designer is a great feature because it allows the user to create and customize a single page report from several devices.

Don: At Audiology Systems, we continue to develop solutions to support the needs of the audiology in today’s ever-changing professional environment. . In addition to OTObase, the new Software Integration Group (SIG) service is a unique information management solutions specific to hearing care practice management. SIG was founded on more than 25 years of software integration experience.

Lance: Audiologists and practice owners can rest assured that valuable patient and practice information is protected. SIG services support the entire customer experience from equipment installation to computer networking and training, specifically for PC-based and network-compatible audiology equipment. Need Noah networked on all of your computers in your office? We can do that and so much more. SIG  ensures that audiologists and hearing care professionals have a better workflow, secure data  and the optimum PC experience.

SIG representatives evaluate and suggest/install the necessary hardware and software, such as the OTObase software. Exclusive SIG services include: Noah networking and support, database security, disaster prevention, recovery solutions, software installation and customer software training. Read about SIG at audiologysystems.com/sig.
