As an audiologist, I am embarrassed to say I have never given any thought to doing balance screenings with my patients. I always left this up to the ENT's I work with. This article provided a great overview and suggestions on how to implement this into my daily clinical routine.

Excellent; informative; and helpful! I work with lots of patients with balance issues, in addition to the hearing impaired patients. Many in each category also happen to be elderly. I see incorporating such a screening, and reporting the results to their Physician(s), as a way to help prevent many future falls.

I like the various suggestions of different screening tests that can be used. However, I'm not sure I agree with the idea of selecting a screening test based on time and space availability in a clinic - each screening test provides specific information. As such, I've always recommended considering what information a test provides when making decisions to incorporate clinically.
