This course provides information on interpretation of case history information and test results, and will guide DoD and VA audiologists in discussing the complexities of hearing health with patients experiencing subjective communication issues in the presence of background noise. Recommendations and additional referral considerations are discussed in detail.

Kimberly Jenkins received her doctorate in clinical audiology from the University of Maryland in College Park, MD. She is currently a Clinical Audiologist at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, serving as Hearing Aid Program Manager, POC for auditory processing evaluations, and virtual health provider for the DiLorenzo Pentagon Health Clinic. Previously as research audiologist, she continues to collaborate with the research department and remains involved in ongoing protocols related efficacy of low-gain hearing aid treatment modalities.

Indiana Gutierrez has been an Audiologist for the Miami VAMC since 2011. She has practiced audiology in South Florida for over 16 years in both private practice and VA and hopes to call the VA her home for the rest of her career. Serving veterans with Central Auditory Processing Deficits for the last 10 years has been a rewarding and educational experience and she is tremendously grateful for the opportunity. She feels this patient population is special because most have never heard of CAPD and may need extensive counseling and education to understand their deficits.
