What is InnoCaption?
InnoCaption is a free mobile app that provides real-time call captioning to the deaf and hard of hearing. It’s an empowering solution that lets users make and receive phone calls with confidence — whether they’re connecting with friends and family, communicating on the job, or getting help in an emergency. It can be used for any phone call a hearing person would make.
InnoCaption is available on iOS and Android smartphones and tablets as well as on the web. Because InnoCaption is funded and administered by the FCC through the Telecommunications Relay Service (TRS) fund, our service is free for eligible users.

InnoCaption is for anyone who has trouble hearing on the phone, needs captions to understand the other party, and is located in the United States.

Choose AI or human captioning
nnoCaption is the only captioning app to offer the choice of AI or human captions, making for unmatched clarity on every call. Users can easily switch caption modes before or during calls.
Keep using their phone number
WIth call forwarding, people will still be able to call a user’s regular phone number. And with outbound caller ID, a user’s contacts will still see their number come up when they call.
Review details from calls later
Our easy-to-find call transcripts mean users don’t have to worry about missing key information on calls, and AI transcript summaries let them see the highlights with a single tap.
Save time listening to voicemail
With captioned voicemail, users get full preview transcripts of voicemail messages generated by AI. They can also have their voicemails re-captioned by our live stenographers if needed.
Get captions in non-English languages
Our AI captioning supports 20+ commonly used languages, with more being added all the time. Users can easily switch between English and a secondary language before or during calls.
Use advanced text-to-speech (TTS)
We are FCC-certified to offer TTS on phone calls, enabling us to serve those who don’t voice for themselves. And we’ve developed powerful features to make communication via TTS faster.
Make captioned emergency calls
Accessible emergency calling is an important part of our service. 911 calls are automatically routed to one of our live captioners for safety, with emergency calls given first priority.
