Question

Do you have any tricks or tips on prepping patients for electrophysiological testing for ABRs?

Answer

Absolutely. One of the biggest factors in prepping a patient is getting the contact point on the skin nice and clean. We recommend that you always use the abrasive preparation gel (ex: NuPrep) to make sure that the top layer of skin (epidermis) is cleaned and oil is removed. After you wipe away the remaining NuPrep the skin will become a little red - after an appropriate preparation, and it is typical to get impedances below 3 kOhm. Be careful not to be too rough.
